I previously replied to an old thread about my truck issues and was told to gather more information and start a new thread.... sorry it took so long BUT here it is.....Hope y'all can help...
My name is Shelia and I own a 2003 Chevy trailblazer LS 4.2 liter / 6 cylinder with 240,000 miles on it. I have had this truck since 2006 and I've taken very good care of it only one mechanic until recent. About year ago in November the truck was leaking fuel so my husband changed the fuel gas filler hose and fuel pump. After that the truck wouldn't start so he replaced the ignition switch but that didn't work either. We decided at that point to call the local Firestone and have it towed to there. Firestone stated that the ECM had lost connection and that there was a 10 amp fuse instead of 3 amp (I'm not sure what that meant at the time). So they ordered and changed the ECM but it was defective so they had to get a second one and get it programmed that with a dealership. I finally got my truck back after about a month or so.
The truck also needed a few typical repairs like brakes and rotors so my husband and best friend did those like my best friend has always done for the past 10 yrs.
I also told my husband that my ac wasn't working properly so he ordered an HVAC fan blower motor resistor kit with harness and installed it. Btw it still doesn't work properly. But wasn't that important at the time.
Along the way multiple repairs have been done to no avail, there's been 2 ignition switchs, 2 fuel pumps with clips, water pump but I still have the same problem.
The truck dies while I'm just driving it and no one seems to know why. I've taken it back to a Firestone near my mechanic and they can't seem to locate a problem, they've let the car run for an hour or two and it never stopped but when they drive it it starts acting up so my best friend took it to another local mechanic who looks at engines and electrical systems and he said it was two intermittent to locate or pinpoint what the problem is. They all say the truck has a great engine and everything else looks good but can't seem to explain why it shuts off.
I also thought it was the starter or the alternator we also checked the fuses and nothing seemed to be wrong. We found out that the battery was being drained, come to find out it was the electric starter my husband had put on3 or 4 years ago.
I had purchased a new battery back in November as well but ended up getting it replaced this October due to the electric starter issue.
In my opinion which probably doesn't make since to you all but my truck seems to just get tired and need to rest a bit then it will work again. It's like the gas isn't getting to the engine properly.
It ran a code recently so I took it to AutoZone in the code was a p0440 stating I needed to replace the EVAP canister purge valve so I purchased the part and my husband had a local mechanic install it but the mechanic said that it wasn't the issue so he didn't do any work to it so I'm really at a loss. My apologies if any of my wording or verbiage doesn't make sense I'm just giving you the best information that I know how to give.
I really value my truck and I want to keep it so anything you all can do to steer me in the right direction would be soooo greatly appreciated!!!!!! At this point I'm about to have a nervous breakdown every time I get in my truck to take my daughter to school or go to the grocery store.
