Well, I did a few searches on here for the cause of the mysterious engine rattle. But I didn't think any of the solutions were right for me. Everytime I'd accelerate, there would be a rattle from the engine compartment just before the transmission was about to shift gears (or around 2-3K).
Well, it was really annoying. There were no trouble codes and mechanically, everything's fine, so something must be loose. Turns out it could be one of 2 things. Either the prop rod was rubbing on the fan shroud or the hood itself wasn't latched tight. I was too lazy to do the process of elimination, so I wrapped and zip-tied a rag to the hood rod where it was rubbing, and loosened the "plastic hood bumper thingies" :bonk: about a quarter turn. No more rattle! :woohoo:
