Well, after reading some post's on this site about the Predator "zero'ing" out the TM. I decided to program mine back to stock until some more light is shed on this discovery. I have the 2wd, but I don't want to mess up the tranny. I drove around for a while with it back at stock, and let me say this. After having the "Diablo Tune" for a few months, and then programming it back to stock there is a significant difference. The Diablo certainly made it quicker, and I hate knowing that my truck is slower!! But I guess its better to be safe than sorry. The shift from 1-2 is so much "wimpier". The "firm" neck snapping shift is gone. I like it better with the tune, but I guess that explains the TM being zeroed out. TIME FOR THE VECTOR TUNE!!!!!

The diablo does nothing for the transmission. It's not connected at all to the transmission.

P.S. the torque management is not possible to be turned of with the Diablo on the TBSS. Put your tune back in. It's only an engine tune and will not hurt a thing.

Pssst the ECM has the lookup table for spark to retard for TM which is zeroed out.. So yes this is why people get "better" shifts with just a "ECM" tune lol So in actuality rather than tune the TCM the proper way they just wiped the TM table, kind of like the loader that they didnt engineer to query modules correctly so you dont have to pull fuses lol

So what's the bottom line Tony? Is the Diablo a piece or what?

More like just "half a tune" with a botched way of removing TM... And BTW, he's Chris...:)

Chris is correct.. Heres how the table goes.

That didn't turn out as ugly as I thought it would.. Take the first row of titles "%.... 10.... 20...." and shift them to their appropriate column.

My concern is if the Diablo tune is bad for my transmission??? I have 2wd version. Just don't want to hurt my baby!!

Chris,

I know you represent Vector, but you know your stuff about these predators. Do you think im safe with the Diablo tune or should I leave it stock? Thanks..

With a 2WD you could probably squeak it awhile, problem is you really need a little more pressure to deal with the lack of TM to prevent slippage.. It's up to you either way, personally I think it's something I wouldnt do on my own truck or any of our customers unless it was a race truck. But hey thats just me :)

this sucks. Chris if you return it back to stock will it return the TM back? Can you fix all this if I send mine in to you to have the Vector done?

I havent personally verified it but I would assume since it reads out your stock calibration before loading the new one it should put it all back. We dont remove all the TM in our calibrations so yes I guess you could call that a fix if you will.

well I'm done with the diablo as well. I just went out and put it back to stock. There is no question in my mind the torque management was turned off. The shift from 1st to 2nd was neck snapping hard witht he diablo program. Now back to stock it is smooth. I also do not recommend the diablo. I'm just going to leave mine alone at this point. It's just too bad the tranny can't handle no TM. The car was great with the diablo. Everytime I raced someone it would just pull away when it shifted hard from 1st to 2nd.

P.S. I'm not really sure if the truck is slower. It shifts smoother back in stock form but who's to say it's slower?

Thanks for this, I was just about to go out and buy a predator to save a little money, glad I know this info now. I just Emailed Vector about one of their tunes.

How much do you remove? 75%? Isn't the TQman just timing adjustments under certain conditions? There is also TQ management according to x to y gear shift.

I think I remember Chris saying they leave like 25% in for 2WD and like 30% for AWD (due to extra driveline stress).

Dont quote me for sure on that though.
