I have accessed the wiring harness section of the resources to see what wire is for Illumination/Dimmer for my aftermarket radio and saw that no wire exists ... can that be right? I do remember the factory radio dimming upon the lights coming on at night

PLEASE HELP .... my dash is half off and the truck looks horrible

Some factory radios have a dimmable lamp wire on connector C1, pin B4, brown with white stripe. But my 2004 shop manual hints (but isn't very explicit) that the radio really dims by way of class II serial messaging from the BCM, not by way of a dedicated wire.

You can always tap into the dimmable instrument lamp bus on other modules back there like the HVAC control box.

People with shop manuals rule the world. :D

They're all Brown/White stripe color in 2004, at least. HVAC connector C1, pin A7. Connector C1 is the 24 pin connector, two rows of 12 pins. And the HVAC control module is conveniently close to the radio.
