the top of one of my coil packs has been popped off (looks like an aluminum head with a sensor underneath). Is the coil pack ruined or can I put on a new seal and put it back into place?

:tiphat Welcome :tiphat If the truck is running good I would seal around it and start putting money aside for a new one.:m2: Sorry, just reread your post. Is the coil bolt broken or is the coil pack split. How did the coil get popped up? We need more info about what you are driving.

It's a 2002 Envoy SLT. At the top of the ignition coil is what seems to be an ridged, square metal cap with a chip (sensor) on the underside. The seal was broken by my friend (not sure what he was doing). I am wondering if I can reseal the chip? And what it is for?

The aluminum is to keep the electronics under it cool. You can seal it, but I would start looking for a replacement. It's been said they are available on EBay for around $30.
