I had my windshield replaced & I supplied the rubber molding that I purchased from Rockauto. It's not right. It's narrower & doesn't lay flat across the top above the glass. I ordered another one from the dealer, but their diagram showed no detail, so I'm not sure that I won't get the same wrong one. If someone can post a picture of their windshield top molding I can better explain what I am looking for. 2004 Trailblazer. Do most windshield places have a generic window molding? At least that may be closer. Thanks, Kev
Also, the shop lost the little bits that snap onto the tops of the A pillar side windshield moldings. They come as one part that runs $120 each!! Ideas?

Thanks for the photo. My #6 has a snap on cover at the top to cover the channel & the ends of the top molding. There's a gap there since they are missing. That looks like the molding they put on, but it isn't sitting very snug in the channel. Still has a high dome profile(looks rediculous) & barely toching the roof & has some gaps. The one that came off fit flat along the foof & was very snug & sealed. BTW the windsheild had been replaced previously so it may have been a generic molding?

This is what my connection looks like on the windshield and this is the factory version. You can test it on many other TB. Take a photo of what it looks like on you.

Thanks. Here's mine, with plenty of pollen. It's glued in along the glass, but it's just not seated deeply enough in the channel leaving some gaps where it doesn;t touch the top. Would heating it up before installation help it flatten out until the adhesive sets? I have another one inbound & they are replacing the glass again, because of a scratch, so There is a chance for them to get right this time.

The top seal is a decorative gasket and should fit snugly against the roof for beauty. Your master should try to make sure that there is no gap between the gasket and the roof. But this pad is not designed to hold moisture 100%. Looking at your photo, I see that the side lining is missing the upper part (how did this happen? Who ruined it?) In the place where these gaskets intersect, there is also no 100% moisture retention, it's just decorative. You need to replace the side pads and then it won't look like a missing part. And yes, try to put the top molding without a gap.

The shop lost the top pieces! The whole part is $120 each or so, so I don't think I will be replacing the whole thing. I may visit a junkyard & see what I can find. Thanks for all the info. One question, is the molding glued only at the glass edge, or at the bottom of the channel? Also, how do you keep the molding pressed flat until the glue sets? Cause it wants to creep up.

Unfortunately, I do not know how the upper molding is glued. I have never removed or glued it personally. When I needed to replace the windshield, I just turned to those people who specialize in glass pasting. They did their job and it looks good. No gaps in the top molding. As far as replacing the side pieces, you definitely need to look at the junkyard. It also makes sense to take care of the plastic clips into which somereza are screwed. I'm talking about the side molding that is screwed on. The plastic of these clips becomes brittle over time. You won't find these clips in the picture above. But they are installed in your car. Look at the photo, here's what they look like.
