I just installed an AMI billet locking fuel door on my 2003 GMC Envoy XL. The locking mechanism hits the gas cap when I shut it. The gas cap is an aftermarket locking cap which I plan on replacing with a non locking cap, but it doesn't appear to be much if any bigger than a standard cap. Has anyone had this same issue? If so, how did you get around it. Thought about just swapping this fuel door for a non locking but don't feel like paying more shipping fees and dealing with a swap. Are there shorter lock mechanisms to put into those doors? Would a non locking cap be thinner and allow clearance? The gap is about 3/4" from allowing the door to close. Any thoughts?

not sure if anyone else has this problem. Mine seems to fit without any issues. I would send an e-mail to AMI. They are very quick to respond, and they would send a new lock assembly out for you to try.(They sent me one after I was having a hard time getting the key to slide into the lock)
