06' Envoy I-6. Just replaced A/C coils last week. Yet this problem doesn't sound liike the A/C.

Yesterday steam spayed out from under the driver side of the engine. It probably lasted about 15 seconds (short blasts) and therefore I didn't get a good look at where it was exactly coming from. The temperature was fine and I drove it about 20 miles yesterday watching the temp. constantly.I am worried it is a hose or something with the cooling system. It made a hissing sound and produced white steam. It almost sounded like a valve was opening and closing releasing pressure. About a week ago I added about a quart of coolant to the overflow tank and I was wondering if that had something to do with it. Any suggestions?

on the drivers side-- is the thermostat.
it has a long neck- it is partially visible from the wheel well..
its possible a small leak had developed...
BUT- at this low point in the block- it would leak HOT coolant-- and not steam.
heres a shot from the engine bay- alternator moved...
