Hello All,

I recently ran across a post saying in big, bold letters not to turn the front wheels (steering-wise) unless the engine was on.

I've never heard of that before, working on my Civic (which has electric power steering though). Googling around, I couldn't find anything to verify; although, it's not the easiest phrase to search for.

Can anyone comment? I'm interested in knowing the reasoning if it is actually bad to turn the wheel with the engine off.

Thanks,
Mike

Never heard of this before. You won't get the power assist but it will turn no problem. I have also turned the wheels when working on brakes and such.

No problems, not hurting anything.

FYI, if it's a Ford, it will likely puke PS fluid out the reservoir, but still no damage.
