My car has 9 miles on it, and shut off on me on the way home from the dealership....its only showing a check engine light and won't turn over at all....I'm curious to see if resetting the trouble codes will fix this "problem"

thanks

Yikes!!! You can only reset it with a Tech II programmer or buy a reader from pepboys or autozone. Call the dealer have it towed in and DEMAND it be fixed right away. Thats crazy!!

Let us know what happened to cause this.

Yea, its friday the 13th too......the car was also on a train that happened to get derailed on its way into illinois....

But inspection turned out ok....

All I did was give it a little throttle and it just shut off....and now it won't restart....thank god it happened right as I was turning the corner onto my street and my house being only the 3rd one down....I even left it in a convienent tow position

If you disconnect the battery for a short amount of time (around 30 mins.) it will reset the computer. Also, Auto Zone can scan and reset the code for you for free, just go in and ask to have it scanned. I would have it taken to the dealer though to get checked out.

It got picked up, so I'm hoping I can probably get it back today......I SHOULD, but we'll see.....

I'll let you guys know what the problem is.......

the mechanic who PDI'd the car came out to look at it and said this is the 2nd time in 20 years that hes had a brand new car break down right after being delievered.....my luck :)

I had mine for a while when I received a light like that, thought it might be because I broke traction on the sand or something by my house. Well happened to be the fuel pump was bad. I towed the vehicle back to my house with my Polaris 700 and called Chevy to come get it. They brought a tow truck out and picked it up. Needless to say I was inconvienenced for 2 days. They tried to give me a 4 cylinder rental car and you can guess what I told them. In any case, my rental was a new Z71 demo.

Good luck with yours, let us know what you discover was wrong with it. That really stinnks with only 9 miles on it, I would be PO'ed also.

Well I got it back, they drove it to my house for me which was nice...

It ended up being a fuel problem, it was a loose fitting underneath the car somewhere...I'll have to look at the service sheet when I get a chance, but thats the info I got...

Mines has been idling ruff in park and at lights...474 miles on it.
So I took it in to be checked out.
I told them I was running on my second tank of 94 octane gas so they don't give that bad gas BS.
They put it on the computer and said everything is opperating to GM spec and its shakes because its a high performance vehicle...
I don't think this thing should have a lobe to it...hehehe.
I'm gona give it another week and go back till they do something besides hook it to the scaner...
Mybe I should try unhooking the battery to reset the computer...Is that the right way to reset it or should I just ask the service guys at the dealership to try it????:undecided
Anyway Has anyone else had this problem???:suicide:

Look at your tachometer and see if it is fluctuating when you are at the lights after it has been running. They may have your idle set to low. Just a thought.
Yes it was fluctuating a little from time to time. But will shake even without the tach moving.
I said the same thing to the service guy and he said the computer said it is opperating properly....
Mines idles at about 650 rpm does that sound right?

The car has about 50 miles on it and so far so good.....good power, but the shifts are annoying me with light throttle, I was expecting it after reading.....I also have the leather fold in the passenger seat.....and sometimes I do feel like I am leaning towards the right while driving......I'll do some more tinkering.....

I plan on doing the tune, air filter, and maybe a catback......thats it though, I tinker too much w/my vehicles......:duh:
