Hi everyone,

I had a couple of questions,

My first question is, should the compressor for the air conditioner be producing water, to drip out the bottom of the vehicle, because today it is 80 degrees out, and mine compressor is bone dry. Also after turning of my trailblazer, about 20 minutes later the fan will come on, and stay on for a good 20 minutes, when the car is not on, and the keys are not even in the ignition.

Any help is always greatly appreciated!

1) Your compressor is bone dry? The item driven by the belt at the front of the engine? Perhaps you mean the drier/receiver, up high by the passenger side of the firewall? If the drier/receiver is cold, and dry, that just means there's little humidity in the air. If that's true, then there should be little condensation on the evaporator, the cold part of the system that cabin air blows over and makes the cabin cold. That condensation gets collected and drips on the ground by a little rubber tube near the drier/receiver.

Could you explain a little more clearly what's dry and what you think should be wet?

2) I assume you mean the HVAC blower and not the engine fan. There is a failure mode of the speed module that could cause it to come on, and potentially drain your battery. Do you have the analog controls or the digital?

Thanks for your quick response. I have the digital controls, they were replaced about 2 weeks ago by the dealer. I called the dealer yesterday, and they told me that it is a new software update, and that the blower will come on and stay on for 20 minutes after the car is off to keep the humidity down and prevent mold. Also, I think I meant the condenser, or the piece of equipment that is supposed to drip, either way, there is no liquid coming out from the bottom of the vehicle.:thx

Yea, GM has wierd ways of fixing everything. I was also told by the dealer, that the condensor, will not produce liquid unless it is very hot out, but it used to drip no matter how hot out it was. It doesn't sound right to me. Any suggestions, and should I still look into the drain issue?

You risk it backing up, and dripping moldy water on the passenger's footwell. It's trivial really. I posted how earlier. Fiddle it, wiggle the rubber nozzle, poke at it with a stick, pull it out of its snap-in fitting if you have to. Clear the gunk/bird's nest/dead spiders out of the nozzle and plug it back in.

Just go out there and do it. It's not hard. It would take less time to do than to keep writing questions about it. :woohoo:

If nothing drains out, then it hasn't been humid enough to collect any water off the evaporator.

Let's separate the two items. The fan blower is for airflow, and the AC compressor in the engine compartment is to get the refrigerant to get cold. The AC compressor can work independently of having airflow.

Did you recently change or disconnect your battery, or have to jump start it?

Do you have the digital or manual controls?

What do you mean the driver's side controls aren't working? What control are you touching and what do you expect it to do?

There are a couple of fuses to check, depending on your answers, and a possible DIY repair. How handy are you? Do you have a meter and know how to use it if necessary?

Thank yo for reply to my matter

I haven't done anything to the battery and It has a manual control. As for the driver side controls which works the windows and the locks does work I check all the fuses and they check ok.

It DOES or DOES NOT work? Please be careful and precise when you're trying to get troubleshooting assistance.

Your door controls have nothing to do with your ventilation blower. They may be flexed and broken wires inthe door edge near the hinges.

Are you going to do the work yourself, or do you have a mechanic?

Your blower problem is possibly a simple resistor pack as long as you're sure it isn't fuses.

Roadie, I currently have this problem with my 03 Envoy where the A/C blows cold air for a few minutes, but then goes hot. I live in Arkansas with 98 degree temps and lots of humidity, so my guess was the heat was causing the problems, but there still should be a way to get my A/C blowing cold air. Recently, I had ignition problems after having driven 3 miles to a friend's house. After being there 5 minutes, I tried to start up and leave and it was dead. Lot's of electrical problems...really weird. Eventually, I had it towed to a shop and the only diagnosis they could find was a faulty/dead battery, which they fixed. Now, the car runs fine (ignition). However, now I'm having A/C problems and was surprised to hear you mention the battery disconnection in this previous quote. Is there a connection between the battery being disconnected and my A/C not working correctly? Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

The condensor will never drip water....since it is on the High side of the A/C system..........The Evaporator should drip water constantly (as long as there is no major problems with your A/C).......there might be some obstruction at the bottom of of the evaporator drip pan that may not be letting the water drain in the tube
