A) why do you want to get rid of a steering wheel that has an airbag
B) is it legal to remove a steering wheel with an airbag in you city/state/country and replace it with one without an airbag
C) are you sure you want to drive around with your CEL/MIL light all the time?
D) are you sure you want to potentially increase risk of harm or even death by removing such an important safety device?

I think most here would agree it's a really bad idea. Not only are you risking injury, but, if you should be in an accident, your insurance can refuse to compensate for any medical bills as a result of removing a safety item. My suggestion is don't do it.

"Acts pertaining to loss of fields of safety, either engineered or subsequently so, including modifying any part or piece or device on an insured's motor vehicle in such a way as to render any safety device, autonomous or manually armed and having the need of such (device) during the occurrence of an accident or loss of control of the said vehicle in and of a need for the preservation of life or injury thereof, loses the right to subrogation."

"subrogation " in this sense means that if YOU screw with a safety device and even if it is not instrumental nor preventative and even is not necessarily used as designed, you lose the right to sue, seek remediation(s) and replacement (made whole) and have no rights in court.

You also lose the right of defense and stand mute in any/all arguments and have to accept, under great prejudice, the final sayso of the court without the potential of appeal.

So - go ahead and remove the airbag --- if you live at home, your parents are liable for your actions too, and as a prima-facia court declared minor of technical non-majority, they pay for your screwup.

I sat in a few courts when things like this happened --- let's say it never goes well for the idiot.

The insurance companies are constantly trying to excuse themselves from payouts - as they are kinda happy if they get to keep the whole pot.

They LOOK for loopholes.

I think most would agree, your response isn't helpful at all to what the OP is asking. Why question what someone else wants to do to THEIR vehicle or with THEIR life.

Unfortunately I don't have the question either, but you do you Sai and enjoy your ride how YOU want it. No other stupid opinions matter.

Answering a simple question with YOUR opinion is simply retarded. It's not up to you or anyone else what someone does with THEIR vehicle or THEIR life. Pretty pathetic to be honest.
Dude, I have the right to make a sensible, non-combative, rational statement, regardless if you personally think it's helpful or not. In the same respect, the OP has the right to read or skip my comment.

But then, you walk in and make an ass out of yourself. Perhaps OP did find it helpful, or perhaps not. Either way, I'm not the forum police and neither are you. Calm yourself down.

FWIW, my comment to OP was more relevant to the topic than your outlash towards me or pdcomm. Cry as you may, but beyond this point, do not expect me to debate you on this.

There simply is no debate. Responding to a question with your safety patrol nonsense is beyond pointless. Quit worrying about what others want to do with their vehicles and lives and worry more about yours. If you don't have a response on what part he needs, keep your nose out of it.

Yes, my comment was just as useless towards the op as yours, but obviously you need to learn that not a single person wants or needs to hear your nonsense.

Enjoy your stock and boring life...
Educating people who haven't thought things through is not un-helpful. It's a public service, worthy of admiration and beneficial to the whole of Society. Sure, the ultimate decision rests with the guy doing the mods...but at least they've got additional information including a set of "negative features" (downsides) to guide their decision-making.

People do stupid stuff because they're uneducated/ignorant, lazy, immature, self-destructive, deluded, Anti-Social/Taken Off The Tit Too Soon, and a dozen other reasons. Some of them--probably MOST of them--can be helped by 'splaining reality to them, and others want to put on a dress and pretend to be female while robbing luggage from the airport.

If someone is so "simple minded" that they don't know the difference between a steering wheel with an airbag vs one without, they shouldn't be driving in the first place.

In my short time on this forum I've seen a ridiculous, and I mean absurdly ridiculous amount of people answering questions with stupid opinions, whether that be safety related or just "GM made it like this so that is what is right". 🤦🏼‍♂️
It is far more helpful to either answer the question or just keep scrolling.

Y'all have a wonderful day. I'm done here.

BECAUSE a public forum cannot promote illegal activities.

What you do in secret or in your closet is YOUR business, but to ask a public forum to condone illegal actions is just nutso.
