Has anyone had any success with aftermarket motor mounts on their 4.2? I'm just wondering because of the price difference. Thanks in advance.

In this case, it is important to use the OEM mounts. Aftermarket ones will fail prematurely.

No experience with mounts for a 4.2L.

However, EVERY set of motor mounts for older V-8 engines that I've ever had the misfortune to deal with, were imported junk; stamped from thin steel in China or India. Most recently, I returned the aftermarket mounts for my GMT400 pickup and used the 300,000 mile originals because the aftermarket replacements were so terrible.

There are some "real" mounts for older V8 vehicles, but the selection is very limited to only the most-popular applications; and they use Polyurethane instead of rubber (which to me is a bonus.)
