check the supporting vendor forums there is a whole section on pcm4less. but basically they tune the engine computer( about $250 total(high estimate)). as for the CAI i would go with a intake that eliminates the intake resonator (connects right to the throttle body.) like a K&N intake(check out ebay on some of the buy it or bestoffer i heard of some people getting them for$200 on the BO:thumbsup:). but its a personal preference ones that eliminate the resonator that intake noise(louder) then the ones that dont. but they get a little more power. and for the exhaust you are correct you get a mechanic to cut it off and weld on a pipe for like $30 or a case of beer depending on who you know. so for less the $500 you can get all this done:woohoo:

PCM4less??? Sry im a newbie.. as for the cold air intake what fits the best? And just eliminate the resinator and add a straight pipe?
PCMforless.com is a place that tunes your rides computer to perform better. It is the best performance mod for the money. You will feel the difference the moment you hit the gas. If you do nothing else to your truck but get a pcm tune I think you would be happy performance wise. It isnt like getting a CAI, they tune your shifts so you stay in the powerband longer. To me even though I have one, CAI are just for looks and sound if you have one that requires you to remove the intake resonator. As for the resonator out back (the can looking thing that people might think are a muffler, but isnt), hack it off and get a stainless tip. Stainless will last longer here in Michigan, I went with a corsa tip #14035. It was ment to be a clamp on, but for what you pay for them I had it welded on.

I'm in the same boat as well. I've been interested in the pcm tune. Just finding out about the exhaust resonator. How does chopping that off help?
It really does nothing performance wise, just looks horrible and isnt needed. Just makes things inside the cabin a bit quieter, personally I can't tell the difference now that it is off.

I agree with the horrible looks of that thing. Seriously looks like I ran over a 5 gal bucket, it got wedged in there and has been there ever since. Just cut the pipe right before it?

Ya, just behind the can, but just in front of the hanger. This doesn't show where it was cut off, but just to give you an idea how it could look.
