My 06' 9-7x 5.3i always looked like it was leaning a little left to right. Now that it's getting nicer outside it was time to put on my SS 20s from my 02' Bravada (with Saab center caps of course).

I noticed that the gap between the front wheels and fender differs 1" between the right and left sides (the right side sits 1" lower). I checked my garage floor at the front and rear and it's perfectly level. Puzzled by this I took out a tape measure and crawled under the front end. The right front spring from top to bottom is 1" shorter than the left front spring.

The left front spring has a part number sticker/barcode and the number is 15125529. The right front spring's part number is gone (looks like it was there at one point in time).

I searched Google for GM 15125529 and a site was returned that mentioned an 06 Buick Rainier but nothing for a 9-7x. Being a former Bravada owner I'm pretty sure that the Rainier and Bravada were the same height and the 9-7x is the one that was lowered 1".

Can anyone tell me what vehicle part number 15125529 is for and what the front spring part number is for a 2006 Saab 9-7x 5.3i?

Thank you!

Hi,

I'd be interested in an answer to this too. I took it to the Dealer and was told it is within Normal tolerance!! BS!!

Any help here would be great.

Thanks,

Ntrsandmann
No way! Since the 9-7x is a GMT360 that's built on the same line as the TrailBlazer, Envoy, Rainier, SS, etc my best guess is that some goof ball grabbed a spring for a TrailBlazer and a spring for the 9-7x...

Did you take it to a Saab dealer or some other GM dealer?

I don't think a lean in either direction where the top of wheel to fender gap varies by 1" shouldn't be a normal tolerance for anyone. My dad was sitting in the back seat for a 1.5 hour ride and asked me if all of my tires were aired up to the same pressure (they were) and said that the vehicle's ride felt strange.

The resources I use don't list Saab parts, so I can't totally check this out. But ... the length of the spring when in the strut IS NOT SET BY THE LENGTH OF THE SPRING. It's set by the length of the shock.

I think your right one is the proper one for the Saab, and it's the same as the one for the SS. Some idiot changed the entire strut (shock/spring) combo out on the left, and that's wrong. Kills handling, tire wear, and all that. You need more than just a spring.

What's this vehicle's history? Got a carfax? Or you're the original owner and the selling dealer swiped one of your struts?
What about some idiot at the factory installing the wrong strut on the left side? Or yes a dealer could have done it as well.

I purchased it used from a GM dealer and have a Carfax on my PC. I think that I'm either the 2nd or 3rd owner.

When I look at the vehicle the right side looks correct for the Saab and it's what I want the left side to look like.

Sounds like you need to match the shock and spring to get a total match. Since the rumor is that the replacement parts offerings for springs have fewer options than the factory had for the original manufacturing line, that might be hard. You might be better off buying a matching set of entire struts off an SS or somebody who's gone to aftermarket KBee coilovers or shockwave struts.
I contacted someone I know who works at a GM dealer today to ask them about the part number I found and what the spring P/N is for the 06 9-7x (I should have an answer in a few days). My 9-7x is still under factory warranty for another 8,000 miles so I'm hoping that the 9-7x spring p/n is the same as what's on the right side so that the left strut can be replaced or both sides can be replaced. With GM's current condition I better act fast.

If anyone has anything to contribute about the part numbers I'd appreciate it.

Not that it would be a 100% check, but does the Carfax list any accident damage at all? What about running a service history on the vehicle? I"m wondering if there was a repair done and they simply used the wrong shock and spring combo. The SS/Saab spring sits shorter, but has a stiffer rate and that gives around 2/3-3/4 of an inch lower stance. The strut is also a bit different and is slightly shorter and combined with the SS spring, would sit 1" lower than a normal TB/Envoy/Etc. - You're strut/shock is most likely the wrong one also, as mentioned above. The strut/shock would also have either a part number tag or imprinted number on it, I'd check to see if they match as well. (They are BOTH the same color, right?).
The Carfax shows no accident/damage reported, 1 owner vehicle (27 month lease in MI) and I'll ask my dealer contact to check the service history. A repair with the wrong strut is a possibility.

The Bilstein shocks are the same color and have a shorter part number on them, both of them appear to have the same number.

There are codes for all 4 springs on the glove box sticker.Examples for frt springs are "6hm" and "7hm". I don't know as much about frt springs as I do the rear ones. It is possible to have the same springs on both sides or it could be 2 different springs side to side. Just because the codes in the glove box are different does NOT mean the springs are different.Post up the glove box codes and I will see what I can do. Also any code or color of any tag that you can find on the springs on the truck. Jay
In the glove box the last line reads 6HH 7HH 8KP 9KP. No 6HM or 7HM.

Left front spring has a white tag near the top with barcode & part number 15125529. Both shocks are Bilstein and there are 2 white barcodes on them. Both have C002 & MHH with MHH and really small numbers below.

Thanks!

Not true. I have 2 sets of yellow SS struts (one with SS springs and one with my Belltechs) and they are Identical, in length and width, to my OE struts and my Monroe Sensatrac struts. The only lowering done on the SS is thru springs.

I didn't, however, know that the Saab had the lower SS stance. Was that always the case?
Many have told me that the Saab is 1" lower than the TrailBlazer/Envoy/Bravada/Rainier (former Bravada owner and my 9-7x is lower, well with a left to right lean) but I often wondered if has the same stance that the SS does.

Ok so here's an update. My dealer contact said that the option codes 6HH 7HH tie to Part Number 15125529 which is the P/N on my left front spring (which is longer than the spring on the right side).

I went by the local Saab dealer and checked the front springs on an 07 and 09 9-7x 5.3i. Both springs on each vehicle were P/N 15125529.

I saw in another thread that the P/N for the TB SS Front Springs is 15853193. I'm wondering if the 9-7x Aero and TB SS use the same springs (to lower the height with the 20" wheels) and if the right front spring on my 06 9-7x 5.3i is from an 06 TB SS?
