I'm swapping now. 5.3 is sitting in the truck. Right now the SS oil pan is bumping the cross member and the trans is about 1½" short from lining up with trans mount. I've read this may happen. What are the normal solutions? Also I need motor mounts. Which do I use or do I order something I can work in? I thought there were mounts that kept motor in correct spot but I can not find. This is the only things as far as putting motor in to work through. Please advise if you can. Wiring next and I will post.

WHAT VEHICLE?

Wouldn't you use OEM mounts from an EXT with a 5.3? (Or from an SS, perhaps the same thing.)

GM Parts Direct has them. A bit pricey, use only AC Delco. I've read on here people have trouble with off brands.

He's going to need the brackets on the engine, the actual rubber cushions, and brackets on the frame--depending on the mount configuration of the 5.3 vs. the 4.2.

I tried a quick search, but all I found was an illustration of the six-popper mounts.
