its possible. 4l80e can handle more power than 4l60e but the problem is 4l80e is more heavier than 4l60e and 4l80e might have computer issues w/ us 02 (correct me if im wrong)

better to get an upgrade for flt or rpm

FLT and RPM are transmission companys that make strong and tough transmissions. google them up and youll see.

these two transmission will NOT readily interchange. the bolt pattern is the same but that is where the simularities end. the 4l60 uses a plug on the driver side of the trans and the 4l80 uses an entirely different style plug on the passanger side

also the cooler lines and cooler size would be an issue because of the location/ positioning is different on each

IMO the best thing to do is just replace with the 4L60 MAKE SURE THE INSTALLER FLUSHES THE COOLER AND LINES! and ensures that the cooler flows to proper spec. (1.3 liters per min if im not mistaken) and flush the tranny every 25 thousand miles to make sure it doesnt become a boat anchor like the last one.

just my .02

Here's my suggestion.... stay with the 4l60e rebuild and make sure they upgrade it with all aftermarket parts as the aftermarket parts are upgraded to withstand more punishment. Next look to invest in a stall shift torque converter at about 2200-2600 rpm. This eliminates more weardown on the transmission because the torque converter is handling that power eliminating heat exhaustion, gear punishment which increases the life by 49%. ALSO put a after the catalytic converter straight pipe. Dont worry about what people think about sound as it's only noisy when you punch not cruising. And invest in a kn filter. Use mobile 1 royal purple or super tech oil only and premium gas. These all eliminate transmission weardown.
