Greetings,
Have a 2007 trailblazer LT with 4.2. Sometimes (1 in 5 lets say), when I start the vehicle the engine surges (rpm up then down, then up, etc). If I give it throttle after a few seconds, its OK.

Any ideas the cause ? I have not had recent engine work and don't know how long its been since throttle body was cleaned. Am nervous about cleaning the throttle body myself as I also have a 2003 trailblazer that I pulled the TB off and cleaned it real good. This included moving the blade to assist in cleaning. When I put that tb back on, the tps was toast and I had to buy a new tb (throttle position sensor is non replaceable on these units).

Thanks for any ideas.

Moving the butterfly with power still connected (battery and TB connector still on) can cause TB damage or misalignment.
