2006 GMC Envoy XL Intermittent Door/Headlight/Key Chime

I have a 2006 GMC Envoy XL that I’ve been working on. I’ve been trying to improve or fix issues with it and next up on my list is the door/key/light chime. The chime to tell me to remove the key or turn the lights off only works on occasion(usually when in warm weather and on the highway for some reason), and I really wish it would stay working. I find myself forgetting to turn the headlights off when I turn the car off or forgetting my keys when I need to run and do something as soon as I park and wish I had the chime as a reminder. This car has had a history of chewed wires from mice but only on the external components(temp sensor wire and transfer case harness.) Anybody have any ideas on fixing it? Any help is appreciated, useful or not.
