Hello, I bought a 04 GMC xuv with no experience before. (besides having the regular short 04 envoy with all the same specs like color, sle, 4x4, now sitting in the yard after its engine blew) After I replaced the corroded tailgate switch, it swang open just did not stay in place, just keeps on closing by itself. I saw people on youtube have their tailgate open without it closing itself. There was a small rubber circle that looked like a bumper in the tiny compartment on the left side of the bed, but im not sure if that has to do with anything with it preventing the door to stop closing. It gets very annoying having to put my work tools or groceries in the bed while having my bad leaning on the tailgate to stay open. Does anyone know how to fix this. Thanks.👍

So turns out, it's the front springs and shocks the front that was bad and causes the car to lean forward and making the tailgate constantly close.
