The way GM wires all their vehicles in the past 30 years or so, will have all the possible circuits in the loom, running to the best exit-spot to service any/all accessories in that area.

I bet the wires that are somehow missing, are just tucked away and you aren't seeing them.

It's cheaper to have too many circuits than needing to add another one at the last moment to run something as simple as rear speakers when the vehicle gets to the final position on the assembly line.

Don't the speaker wires show up inside the rear door panels?

I'd break their knees if I found someone had cut wires that they thought the car didn't need!

I can say this with pretty much 100% accuracy --- the wires were there.

Your job is to find them.

The sound system is supposed to stay ON when you turn the key off and it should stay on as long as you don't open the doors.

There is a Time-Out however ----- and eventually it will turn off the sound unit after X-minutes --- and I believe that value can be set on the upper-trim line vehicles.

Resist the urge to wire it to the ignition switch as that circuit goes directly to a bunch of electronimacal thingies that you don't wanna mess with nor take their job(s) away from them.
