I have a 2003 trailblazer that doesn't rev up to or past 2 rpms . What could it be

Is the check engine light on? Is the Reduced Engine Power light on? If either of these is true, there is likely a problem with the throttle body or the accelerator pedal sensor. These problem areas will prevent the engine from going over a certain RPM.

If it's in park that is normal. Every 4.2 gm 360 I've ever worked on has been that way. If it wont go over 2000rpms while driving that's another issue.

Mine does that too. So does my Ford Escape. It's a feature to protect the engine from over-revving when there is no load on it, either out of gear or if there is a driveline failure.
