Replacing some tires on rear as just 2 new 245/60/18's last july, and several places won't sell me 2 tires; stating policy on liability of tranny/transfer case damage..
BUT - IF I use 4wd only on extreme snow/ice days here in michigan, only about 7 days today so far, then is there grave concern in mostly 2wd ?

And can't I just buy 2 tires that are same 245/60/18 105t, AT type-but different brand with very similar tread pattern, or do I need to get same brand and model ?
Mileage on newer front tires i about 5k mlles , mostly hwy.

The important factor with replacement tires is the diameter. I have read that a difference of no more than 1/4" should be maintained between tires.

if that is what is OEM size on the truck I can't see why you can't buy just 2 tires. Find another tire shop think he's pissing on you and saying it's raining.
