I'm starting off by saying this is my 1st forum, not too good at navigating yet and probably posting in the wrong section..sorry. Anyway, 05 trailblazer 5.3 4wd...im swapping out all the 4wd stuff and just putting in a 2wd tranny. I've read all the other threads about it, and know about the wheel bearing Gatorade cap trick. All the 4wd stuff is already scrapped, so any responses about WHY it's being done are irrelevant..just need tech advice, not advice on why or why it's not feasible or cheap or if it's stupid..so...I know the rear driveshaft length dilemma, crossmember I can figure out if need be, my main question is if I can just plug in the VSS wire from the old transfer case to my swapped 2wd tranny, leave the 2 other propshaft wires unplugged and rolled up, along with the bigger plug going to the transfer case, and have my 2wd tranny work properly?? I have read somewhere on this forum, I think, that these suvs had only mechanical 4wd systems, and that cpu involvement in the 4wd system was either very limited or not involved at all. Since these 2 propshaft sensor vss plugs are normally used, and presumably as some kind of electronic input for the cpu(an assumption), can I just roll them up neatly and not use them, and have my 2wd tranny function? Possible codes?? I don't mind codes, this is going to be a fun toy/parts runner lightly massaged 5.3 2wd suv..as long as the codes don't indicate that something in the 2wd tranny will be affected. I'm a long time mechanic, but older education...retired before I had to learn any but moderate electronic knowledge. Thanks in advance.

It would be most helpful to the forum members if you would break up your writings into several smaller paragraphs instead of one long megaparagraph. It makes it much easier to read and to figure out what you are asking.

Thanks in advance!

I used periods, commas, and I thought I projected my comments and questions decently....so now you are gonna ding me because I didn't push the "return" enough for you? When did car guys become such princesses?
I've seen you browbeat others on this forum because of your OCD issues with grammar and punctuation, and I guess that's your prerogative, but you come off seeming smug and superior. It doesn't look good on you.
By the way...did you see that I broke it up into 3 paragraphs? Do I get a cookie from the "school marms" now??
I figured out my own answer, by the way, so thanks for nothing, except your healthy dose of condescension.

Besides...ive just now noticed that my nice, tidy, precise paragraphs(4 of them originally, as I typed them) ABOVE were bunched together when I hit the "post reply" button, so maybe some or most of this issue is in the programming of the forum.

The above reply is not a duplicate, it was a screenshot of how the post was typed...that's not how it showed up after I pushed the "post reply" button, as seen above. So come on guys, give us a break, huh? And why make assumptions before you know the facts?

Actually, your posting (shows up as #4) is much easier to read than your original posting.

OK on the screenshot.

I see nothing in my original post where I asked for something other than one long megaparaggraph that appears to be condescending nor suggestive that I am superior to anyone else. While you may see good grammar as something that is outdated or unnecessary on a forum where people come seeking free help/advice, many of us have not forgotten what we were taught in grade through high school about the language arts.

Also, what assumptions did I make by the way?

I agree, and I agree with the issue over grammar. I, too, am frustrated by the lack of importance of grammar and general degradation of societal education in general in this country. I believe people could try harder. But you won't change people by browbeating...you hear me Rav Surf...?? :)
And I lied, I didn't actually figure out an answer that I can except with confidence, but I did read an answer somewhere else. So let me try again in a manner that is acceptable to everyone. Proper grammar and paragraphs are going to be observed, so if it shows up as a megaparagraph again, you'll have to discuss it with the forum designers. Here goes. Just the facts and 1 simple question.
I have a 05 trailblazer 5.3 ltz 4wd and I took all 4wd parts off of it. I am putting a 2wd tranny in it, 4l60e. Year of the tranny is going to be either a 99, or an 04, as I have a couple of them lying around. Both have removable bells, and I'm assuming the 99 has 300mm convertor but haven't verified that yet.
I know I'll have to deal with a different length driveshaft, and decide about my front hubs, whether to use shaft stubs or the "Gatorade cap". All this I can deal with.
My main question is about the VSS issue. I know that what I call the VSS propshaft plugs on the transfer case won't be used (I think they are called vss-rr and vss-fl, or maybe I have that backwards). My question is if I can simply plug in the former 4wd vss to the 2wd vss sensor and have it work correctly?
I dont care about codes that the superfluous unused transfer case wires may cause, as long as it doesn't affect the running of the vehicle. Thanks!

I noticed I got replies real quick when a couple of people wanted to lecture and brow-beat...within hours. I guess maybe they got something in a twist. This forum kind of seems like a joke that is dominated by a few long-timers who think they are all-wise and run the show.

You know what you did..you and Rav...I dont have to explain it. People come on here for help, and you have to put up some demands about how they post, and refuse to answer until people conform to your OCD rules. I've already said that I understand, im 55 and appalled by the grammar today. BUT, even though my paragraph structure wasn't to your liking I proved that my original was not written that way, per the screenshot I sent.
You're assumption that I mentioned was that you assume that is the way it was originally typed, and I showed the screenshot to show that it was originally typed with 4 paragraphs and that the forum jumbled it together. But I've gone beyond that issue. You either believe it or you don't. Maybe if I double-spaced everything it would be printed as it was written, I notice that's the way your posts are typed.
A lot of us are posting from our phones, and if it has a double space function I can't figure it out, I'm not doing this from my computer. Sometimes things come out jumbled, especially when some of these poor souls have been wrenching all day and hop on the forum frazzled, sweaty, angry and frustrated and their nerves shot, and maybe it comes out a little jumbled. You make it worse by saying, in essence, "ask the question the way I want you to, or else I won't help you!". How arrogant!
Have you ever watched Seinfeld? Do you know the character of the "soup nazi"? The guy who demanded that you order your food in a very strict, succinct, orderly manner or else "I ban you from my restaurant!". You ever watch that? It's hilarious...but it's only hilarious because most of us know its a bit outrageous. We don't really expect to be confronted by one in real life, acting in a smug manner that they would not act if they were face to face.
It's not really your comment, Chem, on this particular question that was particularly bad, but I've perused this forum a lot over the last few years and there are about 3 or 4 of you guys that are probably long timers and seem to enjoy demanding that people conform to your rules or you won't help them. I agree with you that some of them are quite unreadable...but some aren't that bad, and even though the grammar is questionable you can still understand what is being asked, but you still enjoy your petty tortures. This is my first real question after joining this forum, and I've already encountered it. And reading some other posts on here, it gets pretty bad and condescending sometimes, and a lot of people have been much more patient with you guy's attitude (surprise! They are on here for help) than you have been upon giving them answers.
Please, don't be "soup nazis", ok??? It's arrogant and egotistical. Nobody is perfect..if bad grammar makes you angry, why not just ignore the question, instead of saying things like "I'll post an answer when this question is legible" like your buddy Rav did. You guys seem to be the main 4 or 5 movers and shakers on here, that I've seen being superior to people, and I guess the old saying is true..."give someone a little power, and..." well, you probably know the rest. By the way, I've tried to post this in proper grammatical form, and I hope it's up to standards. And I still haven't gotten any comment on my question, so maybe I've made you guys angry. Oh well.
