Hello all, I am new here. Although I've had a few tbs this is my first envoy and first one with the bose stereos. Now with my situation....
I'm installing an aftermarket radio. No subs or Amp yet but will later but for now I'm getting no sound and looks to be that the factory Amp is not turning on. I ðont want to bypass it bc I want it to power the door speakers as it does even after I install my external subs and amp.
Now for the famous question, how can I get the factory amp to turn on with my new stereo so I can have frickin sound!!?? I do not care about steering wheel controls or frickin onstar either lol! Also for the radio class 2 serial turn on, when I just wire my new radios remote to it, it just starts draining my truck of all power and makes **** go crazy. So I'm a lil stumped unless I just ran wire from the factory amps speaker outlets but I'm not doing all that nor do I want to for the application I'm ultimately going for.
Thanks I'm advance to anyone for their help! Greatly appreciated!

Several different aftermarket interfaces are required to install a headunit into a factory setup. You didn't mention anywhere in your word soup about anything like that, at least not what I could see. Crutchfield.com can lead you in the right direction with what you need.

No I didn't, and you are right. In which I did not do. I didn't get any harnesses I looked up diagram and wired it myself. If I could find the wire the amp uses to turn on with though I could wire it up to my remote wire n be done with it. Idc about steering controls or none of that. But if not then I'm just going to bypass it.

I made the same mistake, handmade a harness and it wouldnt work.

This is because TB radios work on the serial bus, and require an interim computer between the TB and an aftermarket radio so that the two can commune.

"Metra Stereo Wiring Harness LC-GMRC-01" is what I bought. Different models retain different features. Bose AMP, OnStar, Steering Controls, etc.

Crutchfield is a massive resource and will likely walk you through the whole process.
