My 2002 Envoy (117,000 miles) tie rods have a lot of play in them. I was going to replace them today but....

Ive been looking online (autozone, rockauto, etc..) but they keep asking if its "14mm (early models) or 16mm threads". I tried figuring out this morning what size threads they are, and I have no idea how you would figure it out... the nut on the tie rod is like 20+ mm so that doesnt help me at all.

How can I tell what size my tie rod ends are?

Nevermind! I took the tie rod off (very easy suprisingly for being on there for 7 years and 117,000 miles) and took the open end of a 14mm and 16mm wrench to the tie rod. Its 14mm for sure.

Called the parts store- im about 25 minutes away from any parts stores - they had them in stock for $38/ea with a lifetime warranty :woot:

Get there, and find out they have the 16mm in stock. The 14mm are at the warehouse and the warehouse is closed today :hissy::hissy: But they'll be in tomorrow around 10am.
